The Pennsylvania Livestock Association (PLA) provides a vital communications link for all livestock related businesses. We support education and research programs, youth activities (elementary through collegiate levels), promotions and legislation that benefits the entire industry.
The PLA provides a united effort to deal with livestock needs programs. Every effort is being made to strengthen the future of Pennsylvania’s livestock industry, the second largest segment of Pennsylvania agriculture.
Our mission is to develop and conserve the full agricultural and soil resources of Pennsylvania by promoting the production and maximum usage of cattle, sheep, swine and horse industries within the Commonwealth.
Founded in 1954, The Pennsylvania Livestock Association has facilitated the success of those involved in Pennsylvania's agriculture. Our non-profit organization, which represents livestock breeders and agribusiness throughout the Commonwealth, has grown to include over 650 members to date.
Additionally, the PLA is the event sponsor of the Keystone International Livestock Exposition (KILE), held each year at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, PA. KILE is commonly considered one of the world’s finest international livestock shows. 2004's KILE boasted approximately 1,400 event exhibitors and 5,000 of the finest livestock animals during the week-long event.
